2014-2015-ACTIVITIES:

NGC Coordinator: Dr. B. Siva Kumari

  • 16-9-2014-ENVIRON- 16-09-2014. On the Eve of World Ozone Day on 16th September, 2014, the NGC is organized one day seminar ENVIRON-2014 in association with A.P forest department. Invited speakers from Acharya Nagarjuna University, Forest department delivered the talks. The seminar followed by the prize distribution to the prize winners.
  • 15-9-2014-DRAWING COMPETITIONS FOR  COLLEGE AND SCHOOL CHILDREN- 15-09-2014- On the Eve of World Ozone Day on 16th September,2014,  The NGC is organized Drawing competitions on 15th September for School Children and also for College students on the  theme SAVE NATURE at 10.00 am in the old seminar hall. Total 300 students were actively participated.
  • 11-9-2014-PLANTATION WORK- As a part of NGC programme,  50  NGC  students participated in the  cleaning and plantation work near the UGC hostel. This work gives students an experience about the importance of cleanliness and plantation.
  • .08-9-2014-National Green Corps organized a Guest lecture on ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION- ROLE OF STUDENTS on 8th September 2014 in seminar hall.. Dr. B. Siva Kumari  NGC coordinator explained the importance and objectives of NGC. Dr. T. Sri Kumar Dept of Physics delivered a Guest lecture on Role of Students in the Environmental protection and various methods to control pollutants. All the NGC volunteers actively interacted with the resource person. 
  • 30-8-2014-NGC organized Neeru - Meeru Chettu programme on 30th Aug, 2014 near Intermediate block in collaboration with Krishna district forest Dept. The programme was inaugurated by Gadde Rammohan East Constituency MLA and Sri. MIshra IFS, Asst. Chief Conservator of the forests A.P.
  • 28-8-2014-NGC organized a One Day Seminar on "The role of Medicinal Plants in Reducing Pollution," as a part of the Environmental Awareness  week on 28th August, 2014.  Dr. Sirisha Head Dept of Environmental Science, INJAS, Hyd was the resource person.
  • 27-8-2014- NGC STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN THE CAMPUS CLEANING AND IN PLANTATION WORK- 27-8-2014-As a part of NGC programme, 30 NGC girl students participated  plantation work near the ALC church. This work gives students an experience about the importance of cleanliness and plantation. This also imparts a feeling of responsibility on their surroundings for the students.
  • 24-8-2014-NGC STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN THE CAMPUS CLEANING AND IN PLANTATION WORK- 24-8-2014-As a part of NGC programme, 30  NGC girl students participated in the  cleaning and plantation work near the ALC church. This work gives students an experience about the importance of cleanliness and plantation. This also imparts a feeling of responsibility on their surroundings for the students.
  • 22-8-2014-NGC STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN THE CAMPUS CLEANINGAND IN PLANTATION WORK- 22-8-2014.  As a part of NGC programme, 70 students participated in the campus cleaning and plantation work. This work gives students an experience about the importance of cleanliness and plantation. This also imparts a feeling of responsibility on their surroundings for the students.
  • ENVIROMENTAL AWARENESS WEEK: NGC  organized a week long ENVIROMENTAL AWARENESS programme from 22nd -30th August 2014
  • NGC organized Guest Lecture on ‘CONSERVATION OF BIODIVERSITY’ on 28th July, 2014, to mark the WORLD NATURE CONSERVATION DAY.
  • NGC organized Inter Departmental Drawing competitions on SAVE NATURE on 25th July-2014. Students  from various departments were actively  involved in this programme.
  • Dr. B. Siva Kumari appointed as a National Green Corps Coordinator on 15th July-2014.

2013-2014

NGC Coordinator: Mr. P. Srinivasa Rao

National Green Corps (N.G.C.): N.G.C. activities for the year 2013-2014 were inaugurated on 16th July 2013 by observing Environmental Week from 16th to 22nd of July. As part of the Environmental Week aimed at bringing awareness among the students about the present crisis that the planet Earth is going through, the NGC conducted a number of events and Inter-Departmental Competitions.  The NGC conducted Essay Writing Competition on the topic “Earth for Tomorrow” on 18th July; Drawing Competition on the topic “Save the Nature” on 19th July; “Slogan Writing” competition on 20th July. Among the hundreds of participants in the competitions, the Best Three in each Competition as selected by the Judges were presented with the prizes on the concluding day of the Environmental Week i.e. 22nd July 2013. Dr.N.Vidya Khana, Director, Jana Sikshana Samstan, Vijayawada, was the Chief Guest and Dr.P.Bramhaji Rao, Associate Professor, Acharya Nagarjuna University, was the Guest Speaker. The events were conducted under the guidance of Mr. P. Srinivasa Rao, NGC Coordinator and members of the NGC.
Prize Winners:
Essay Writing Competitions:  The first prize was won by Mr.Arockia Raj (NB 04), while the VVN Ajay (DZ 19) and D.Gayatri (AZ 27) won the 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively.
Drawing Competition:  The first prize was won by Ms.K Priyanka (NZ 23), while Alex Raja Reddy (AFC 19) and Neethu Prakash (ABBA 11) won the 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively.

Slogan Writing: The first prize was won by N Sridhar (DGH 03), while Sri Sarasija (AP 48) and Tony Yesudas (DB 02) won the 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively.

2012-2013

NGC Coordinator- Dr. T. Rose Mary


National Green Corps (N.G.C.): N.G.C. activities for the year 2012-2013 were inaugurated on 21.8.2012. On this occasion, Dr.T.Srikumar, Lect. in Physics, ALC, and environmentalist, enlightened the students on different environmental issues. Dr.J.Chandra Sekhar Rao, Lect. in Botany, ALC, motivated the students on the importance of their participation in the NGC activities. The NGC has 50 senior volunteers and 50 junior volunteers.
Dr.Mrs.T.Rose Mary, Coordinator, attended Green Mission-2012 organized by the Horticulture Department and Vijayawada Municipal Corporation on 23.8.2012 at Vijayawada.
The student leaders prepared an action plan for the academic year that included conducting awareness activities on Biodiversity, global warming, green house effect, water harvesting, solid waste management, campaign against cruelty on animals, plantation, recycling of waste, survey of environment consciousness etc.

NGC volunteers participated in AIDS awareness programme on 01.12.2012 near Ramavarappadu Panchayat office.
